2024 Summer Cup |
The NWSL x Liga MX Femenil Summer Cup (Spanish: Summer Cup LIGA MX Femenil X NWSL)[1] is a women's soccer competition between clubs from the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) of the United States and Liga MX Femenil of Mexico.
The first edition took place in 2024, at venues in the United States and Mexico.[2] The competition is similar to the Leagues Cup, which is played by men's teams from Major League Soccer and the Liga MX.[3]
The 2024 edition will have 20 teams: all 14 teams in the NWSL and six participants from Liga MX Femenil determined by the most points in the 2023 Apertura and Clausura tournaments (Club América, Guadalajara, Monterrey, Pachuca, Club Tijuana, and Tigres UANL).[4] The teams will be divided into five groups, each with four participants, and play three matches in the group stage beginning on July 19. The four teams with the most points in the group stage will advance to the semifinals in early August; the championship match is scheduled for late October.[5] The group stage is scheduled during the NWSL regular season's break for the 2024 Summer Olympics and international games.[3]
