City in West Azerbaijan, Iran
Serow (Persian : سرو )[ a] is a city in, and the capital of, Sumay-ye Beradust District of Urmia County , West Azerbaijan province, Iran .[ 4]
Language and ethnicity [ edit ]
The people of Serow are Kurds and Azerbaijanis who speak the Kurmanji Kurdish and Azeri Turkish language. Their religion is Sunni Islam .[ 5] [ 6]
At the time of the 2006 National Census, the city's population was 1,508 in 279 households.[ 7] The following census in 2011 counted 1,530 people in 331 households.[ 8] The 2016 census measured the population of the city as 1,800 people in 469 households.[ 2]
Situated on the border with Turkey , it has a border crossing linking it with the Turkish town of Esendere .[ 9]
