Mental Health Consequences of Immigration Detention
This article was created a few months ago and I would like to work on expanding it significantly. I am very interested in learning more about the mental health impacts of detention, especially given the increases in detention, family separation, and other harmful immigration policies over the past few years. I would like to write more specific information about the experiences of migrants in these detention centers and the treatment they receive there. I would also like to explore how people with mental health conditions are treated in these detention centers. I would also like to include information relating to the ongoing effects of prior trauma and how that may be affected by detention. Overall, I would like to add more detailed information to this article to raise greater awareness about the severe mental health consequences immigration detention has, and what kinds of interventions and changes are possible. As part of this, I will be including several in depth studies that look into specific detention centers in the US and Australia.

I am a participant in the Black Lives Matter WikiProject, the Women's Health WikiProject, and the Medicine WikiProject. As part of these WikiProjects, I have created a new article on Black maternal mortality in the US, under the parent article Maternal mortality in the US.
Hello! I am a student located in the United States, and I am interested in health disparities, social determinants of health, migration and displacement, and the intersections of poverty, education, and mental health. I hope to contribute to these areas and related topics in social justice!
I created the article on Black maternal mortality in the US in order to highlight the racial disparities in maternal mortality in the United States.
