Hey Adabow

I'm sending you this because you've made quite a few edits to the template namespace in the past couple of months. If I've got this wrong, or if I haven't but you're not interested in my request, don't worry; this is the only notice I'm sending out on the subject :).

So, as you know (or should know - we sent out a centralnotice and several watchlist notices) we're planning to deploy the VisualEditor on Monday, 1 July, as the default editor. For those of us who prefer markup editing, fear not; we'll still be able to use the markup editor, which isn't going anywhere.

What's important here, though, is that the VisualEditor features an interactive template inspector; you click an icon on a template and it shows you the parameters, the contents of those fields, and human-readable parameter names, along with descriptions of what each parameter does. Personally, I find this pretty awesome, and from Monday it's going to be heavily used, since, as said, the VisualEditor will become the default.

The thing that generates the human-readable names and descriptions is a small JSON data structure, loaded through an extension called TemplateData. I'm reaching out to you in the hopes that you'd be willing and able to put some time into adding TemplateData to high-profile templates. It's pretty easy to understand (heck, if I can write it, anyone can) and you can find a guide here, along with a list of prominent templates, although I suspect we can all hazard a guess as to high-profile templates that would benefit from this. Hopefully you're willing to give it a try; the more TemplateData sections get added, the better the interface can be. If you run into any problems, drop a note on the Feedback page.

Ahh, I have seen some GAs rejected on the basis of edit warring and article instability, so I imagine the FA criteria to be much stricter - I'll have to hope that nothing too major arises. Yes, I love what I've heard of Iggy Azalea (so far); "Work" was very popular here (in the UK) and it pushed me into listening to some of her mixtapes, and they're pretty good! I'm most looking forward to whenever The New Classic is released as her new sound is definitely the best (and one of the reasons why I want to contribute to the article). I think that the August 2, 2007 show is missing in the table. The August 28, 2007 show in Fresno is not cited in the reference. The September 5, 2007 concert (TBD here) and the September 6, 2007 in Calgary are missing. The concerts from September 8-15, 2007 are not mentioned in the reference. Writing for About.com, a website about a variety of topics with little editorial oversight, does not make him reliable, especially since what he writes is original research. There have been a few discussions at WP:RSN about the reliability of About.com, and consensus is that the reliability of individual author of a page must be established. Contrast with Mark Edward Nero, who has written for The San Diego Union-Tribune, Los Angeles Daily News, The Boston Globe and Pasadena Star-News. All statements relying on Lamb's articles should be removed from Wikipedia articles; I remove them on sight, and encourage you to do the same. Adabow (talk) 08:42, 13 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi Adabow, I just wanted to challenge your opinion in this edit from a couple of years ago, in which you seem to unilaterally deny any National significance of the Long Range Desert Group. My wife's grandfather served with the LRDG, and I feel very strongly that his memory, and those of whom he served with with distinction, should not be belittled with such a brief brush of the keystrokes by you. I'm only new to Wikipedia, so I don't really understand by what criteria an article is deemed "important" on the Wikiproject New Zealand Assessment importance scale, but the information there does tend to indicate that importance relates to probability of page hits, which has nothing at all to do with your cited "importan[ce] to New Zealand's culture or history". I'm sure that the Royal New Zealand Returned and Services' Association would also refute your description of the LRDG as being "[n]ot really important to New Zealand's culture or history." I must admit I know little about military history, but I don't think it compares to, for example, Gallipoli Campaign or Anzac Day in terms of importance to NZ as a whole concept (history, arts, geography, science of NZ). Thanks for the prompt reply. As I said above, there seems to be a distinct difference between a page's importance to the WikiProject and a subject's importance Nationally. If I were to change the importance of that article, my change may not reflect the probability of page hits that is used to support the page's importance on the WikiProject. However, the simple fact that the LRDG was the forerunner of the SAS should make it important, in my view anyway, both Nationally and to the WikiProject, in and of itself. I try not to read too much Whale Oil - it clogs the arteries. :P The Hamilton mayoral race is shaping up to be quite close. Hardaker has been reasonably popular for the past three years, but we have a history of chucking out mayors after one term, and Wilson has a reasonably well-known name (from Kiwi Air). Over at the Sea FAC, which has now been running for seven weeks, Snowmanradio has concluded "About seven recently added new sections have not been reviewed by very many people. A lot of the FAC so far has been about the omissions and organisation of the article, and I think that it is only now that the article has become stable enough for the second phase of the FAC, which I think will be like a more normal FAC involving discussion about words, sentences and MoS, rather than omissions of whole sections. I think that a lot can be said for restarting this FAC at this juncture."

The length of the review and the addition of new sections (mostly minor sections such as the Carbon cycle and Ocean basins) are as a result of the many "omissions" that Snowman has detected, some worthwhile suggestions and others not so. A lot of the alterations made were in fact changes of section titles, rearranging sections and the moving of information from one section to another, Since I have found the FAC process quite exhausting, I am not in the least keen on starting all over again. You were kind enough to support the article earlier in the review process. Would you be so good as to indicate on the review page whether its present state still meets with you approval. The Guardian source does say that Run the Word is seen as the red-herring of the album, see the 1st paragraph:

People complained 4 had too many ballads, it had no hits, it was nothing like the energetic Major Lazer-sampling first single Run the World (Girls). But that track was a red herring – a Single Ladies sequel suggesting ultra-modern glitches and more of the same Sasha Fierce-ness.

How's it going buddy? Love or hate Bangerz? To me it's just so-so. There are some very boring songs in the album :( The songs I love are "WCS", "Adore You", "Love Party Money", "Drive" :) Btw, while stalking your edits saw [1]. Sorry if I sound stupid (it's been two years since I dropped chemistry, lol). Won't the reduction of an aldehyde give a =CH₃ while the reduction with a ketone give =CH₂? I love all those songs, plus "Ball". "SMS" and "Do My Thang" are OK, the rest of the album is throwaway filler though. I think a lot of the success of "WCS" and the album as a whole is due to Mike Will's beats; he is really talented, and I've been following his work for a wee while now. Uhh yeah you're right about the reduction but there would be no observable difference. It's one of the best examples for a Japanese album with English beats :D As for the test, yeah. Lorde's version is as well, of course, but I think that it (the Kindness version) deserves to be mentioned on here. Sure! You need to download Audacity, an open-source audio editing program. Open the file of the song (you need an expansion to open M4A files, which is the default for iTunes downloads). At the bottom of the screen, enter in the length of the sample you want (less than 10% of song, and no more than 30s, per WP:SAMPLE). Try out different start times and play the clip until you get the sample you want. Copy and paste this into a new project (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+N, Ctrl+V). You can select fade in and fade out effects under the "effects" menu at the top. When you are done, click File→Export and choose "Ogg Vorbis Files". Select "Options" and slide the quality down to 0 (per WP:NFCC#3b). Save the file, and upload to Wikipedia as usual! In the Wikipedia Upload Wizard there is an option for audio samples, which provides a template for the relevant data for you to enter. If you're unsure about anything, feel free to ask me! I'm always happy to be bothered! You can just move over the redirect like a normal page move, unless it has been moved before, in which case you can tag the redirect for deletion with {{db-move}} (if the move is uncontroversial). If there is likely to be disagreement then you'll have to file a WP:RM. The list includes non-tour performances, so I'm not sure why you'd want to move it back... I'm sorry for the uncivil tone in my comment before. Yep, I'm keen to work on the article a bit this week; after that I won't be very active as university starts on 24/2. Hmm, this complicates things. I think, because there is little parallel history, a histmerge should be reasonably easy for an admin to do. We can't move Blow (Beyoncé Knowles song) over Blow (Beyoncé song); you can only move over redirects that have only been edited once or twice (I'm not exactly sure what the conditions are, but I've tried moving over the redirect and it won't work). I edited the genres because they were wrong. For You & I, the genre was given as pop rock which was wrong. It's a soft rock song.and one thing isn't a dance pop song. You are having a hard time understanding the fact I'm stating. It has nothing to do with a renaming. It has to do with charts that no longer exist. Can you provide links for all the previous Mediaguide charts where it actually states Mediaguide in them? Yes thought so. Random spread out webcites that don't even state what chart it is are not WP:RS WP:V and are borderline WP:BURDEN. Whereas, the correct charts have now been archived on the EMA (Mediaguide) website with dates and you can actually visibly see it is in fact a chart provided by the EMA. A singles chart template can even be made for it. If you were so involved with the chart's page why was it such a mess all these years, and why do such little song articles have these random webcites. For an experienced user who reverts with such arrogance, I thought you would be knowledgeable of reliability and notability on Wikipedia. And you know very well you are going out your way to undermine my edits on Wiki. I focus on Iggy's articles and the EMA chart, yet you have thrown around OR accusations on "Work (Iggy Azalea song)", "Black Widow (song)," coincidently tagging Iggy samples as too long. Lectures on digital releases at "Work" and now this edit war about the EMA chart? Don't you have other editing interests on Wiki other than undermining mine? What I'm saying is yes there are policies of WP:LINKROT BUT if you actually click on the webcites - they say NOTHING about being Mediaguide, nor an airplay chart, there are not even dates for the charts in these webcites. At WP:OKAYCHARTS it reads "The following charts are acceptable and are deemed as reliable sources for use. However these charts do not have a searchable database or are archived by the website. In order to prevent WP:LINKROT, the source must be manually archived using WebCitation or another similar service." By coincidence, there is an archive from the Wayback Machine of around that time which lists the peak for BTINH; I have changed the archive in the article. It is unfortunate how poorly WebCite archives some elements of webpages. However, while this is nice, it isn't an absolute requirement – the WebCite archive showed the source website, which is official and sufficient to verify the information. Okay, the wayback archives are much better sources, but only to an extent because only 26 charts have been archived during Mediaguide's entire 3 years of existence. Sure the one archive can say BTINH peaked at 2, but what if it peaked at 1 the week afterward but there are no archives to clarify this. Which in turn is anything BUT reliable or verifiable. Seeing EMA and Mediaguide are the same, why aren't the older charts archived on the site then? Using one random archive to indicate a song's peak for a specific week is not RELIABLE, it is in fact WP:BURDEN because the song could have attained a different peak in a different week but the minor amount of archives on Wayback or WebCite can't PROVE or CLARIFY this because there are so little of these charts archived. I'm not sure how WP:OKAYCHARTS allowed this all these years because it is WP:BURDEN through and through, and the charts are now archived on the site itself, yet these charts aren't anywhere to be found on there. Ultimately, we should be having this discussion with Kww who appears to be on leave (?) But, anyone who has a concept of what reliability and verifiability is will be able to see that using these random webcites is WP:BURDEN for all the reasons I've mentioned above.—CoolMarc 17:56, 5 June 2014 (UTC)

@Kww: that is the whole issue with these random webcites, it is WP:BURDEN and should not be allowed. As a new editor, I've only recently learned some of Wikipedia's policies, beforehand I would have had no issue with the random webcites. Very good! You could make it longer if you want to. The song is 4 minutes and 46 seconds long, or 286 seconds, and 10% of that is 28.6 seconds (the maximum recommended by WP:SAMPLE is 10% of the song if it's less than 5 min long, or 30 sec if the song is longer than 5 min). Hello, I removed the Beyoncé platinum edition cover from the article as I don't think it meets the guidelines for inclusion:

If the album has been released with different album covers, they can be added to the infobox using this template. However, per WP:NFCC#3 use of non-free content is to be minimal, and not to be used if one item can convey equivalent significant information. An alternate cover that is significantly different from the original and is widely distributed and/or replaces the original has generally been held to pass this criterion.

Recently, I have discovered that The Love Club EP was not only released in NZ, Australia, US, Netherlands but also in various countries, where "Bravado" was also released (Finland, Switzerland, Germany Austria...).
