That's it, the first round is done, sign-ups are closed and we're into round 2. 64 competitors made it into this round, and are now broken into eight groups of eight. The top two of each group will go through to round 3, and then the top scoring 16 "wildcards" across all groups. Round 1 saw some interesting work on some very important articles, with the round leader Freikorp (submissions) owing most of his 622 points scored to a Featured Article on the 2001 film Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within which qualified for a times-two multiplier. This is a higher score than in previous years, as Godot13 (submissions) had 500 points in 2014 at the end of round 1, and our very own judge, Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) led round 1 with 601 points in 2013.
In addition to Freikorp's work, some other important articles and pictures were improved during round one, here's a snapshot of a few of them:
You may also wish to know that The Core Contest is running through the month of March. Head there for further details - they even have actual prizes!
If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! On 4 March 2015, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Freddy Galvis, which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that Philadelphia Phillies infielder Freddy Galvis participated in the Little World Series and subsequently, at age 16, signed his first contract? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Freddy Galvis. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited 2015 Philadelphia Phillies season, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Tom McCarthy. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

I request to gain permission in WP:AN to either repeal my ban...and if doesn't work, to request to be site-banned completely. I have taken a break. and i'm still willing to voice the outcome.Lucia Black (talk) 02:44, 28 February 2015 (UTC)
Um, you might want to look at the number of recent edits he has made, and his previous history. FWIW, he seems to maybe be personally notable in himself, maybe, given the content of his user talk page and the possibility that the destruction of his church in South Africa may have gotten some coverage at the time, but I think this might be one of the few editors I know of out there who are avoiding the possibility of ANI topic or site bans by the narrowest of margins for various forms of POV pushing. We are getting more and more editors that are participating during the seconding process.....which (as Martha Stewart would say)) is a very "good thing". As you probably noticed I am starting to include comments made during seconding and showing them on the Accepted Page (The Q). Two things: 1)We should try to incorporate these comments into the nomination. I doubt that the nominator would mind ...but to forgo any comments of "popularity contest" we should probably mention that on the Nomination Pages omewhere that the nomination may be altered, changed or added to based on the discretion of the "WER clerks". Done I can make the integration before hand or you can do it the day of awarding. Up to you! 2)What do you think?...should we mention those that seconded when we dispense the award? It adds more work but it widens the circle of active participants in the "retaining of Editors" process. . Buster Seven Talk 15:39, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

Phightins, here's a sneak peel at how the revamped infobox is going: Template:Infobox college football player/testcases#Joe Cool (typical example). What do you think of the colors, graphics, and layout and design? In particular, how do you like the "college varsity stripe graphics?" Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 17:19, 1 April 2015 (UTC)

Just saw your request, Sundays often have me away from Wikipedia. As the bot is just a minute or two from loading the last set for the day, I am not comfortable making the changes to add your hook to today's sets as I can not be sure the changes will be finished before the bot starts its work. Sorry I did not see your request in time. In the future I would recommend sending a request such as this to Wikipedia talk:Did you know. It may not have changed teh end result but would have increased the probability of the request being seen before time ran out. --Allen3 talk 12:03, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

Since you're an admin...Can you please move José Urena to José Ureña?--Yankees10 23:53, 13 April 2015 (UTC)
Since no one else seems to be doing the game by game additions to the Stats (batting and Pitching) I guess I will start to do them. Any suggestions on the best way or someone to ask for guidance? I stated to do this for the Chgo Bulls in 2011 or 2012 and did it most of the year till some young whipper-snapper came along and fired me just before the play-offs. Now....a skeptic might say that will not happen at the cubs article because the Cubs will not make it to the playoffs!!!! O, ye of little faith. . Buster Seven Talk 19:33, 14 April 2015 (UTC)
Hey, GP. Can you please move Talk:Michigan–Minnesota football rivalry to Talk:Little Brown Jug (college football trophy), so that the talk page title matches the article title that was move pursuant to talk page consensus? Not sure why, but the talk page move was blocked when I moved the article title. Thanks. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 19:41, 23 April 2015 (UTC)
I've received a couple of emails with some suggestions for minor improvements to the EotW process. Nothing urgent. Ill email you and Isaac and DB later this week or next... . Buster Seven Talk 15:46, 28 April 2015 (UTC)
The second round one has all wrapped up, and round three has now begun! Congratulations to the 34 contestants who have made it through, but well done and thank you to all contestants who took part in our second round. Leading the way overall was Cas Liber (submissions) in Group B with a total of 777 points for a variety of contributions including Good Articles on Corona Borealis and Microscopium - both of which received the maximum bonus.
Special credit must be given to a number of high importance articles improved during the second round.
The points varied across groups, with the lowest score required to gain automatic qualification was 68 in Group A - meanwhile the second place score in Group H was 404, which would have been high enough to win all but one of the other Groups! As well as the top two of each group automatically going through to the third round, a minimum score of 55 was required for a wildcard competitor to go through. We had a three-way tie at 55 points and all three have qualified for the next round, in the spirit of fairness. The third round ends on June 28, with the top two in each group progressing automatically while the remaining 16 highest scorers across all four groups go through as wildcards. Good luck to all competitors for the third round! Figureskatingfan (talk · contribs · email), Miyagawa (talk · contribs · email) and Sturmvogel 66 (talk · contribs · email) 16:33, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi. I've added a long image of Magna Carta (An Embroidery) (40-foot reproduction of its wiki page) to Wikipedia:Wikipedia_Signpost/2015-05-13/In_the_media
Other alternatives are available at c:Category:Magna_Carta_(An_Embroidery); or we also now have clearance to use other images of the work from [2] & [3] that I haven't had time to get uploaded yet. ("The embroidery, and photographs of it, are available for reuse on the same terms as Wikipedia content" -- Tom Johnson, British Library, 15.05.2015).
Also cc'ing User:Gamaliel, but I'm not sure which of the two of you are supervising the Signpost this week. Jheald (talk) 18:04, 15 May 2015 (UTC)
