Guideline and policy news

• Following an RfC, extended confirmed protection may be used preemptively on certain high-risk templates.
• Following a discussion at the Village Pump, there is consensus to treat discord logs the same as IRC logs. This means that discord logs will be oversighted if posted onwiki.

Technical news

• DiscussionTools has superseded Enterprisey's reply-link script. Editors may switch using the "Discussion tools" checkbox under Preferences → Beta features.

Arbitration

• A motion has standardised the 500/30 (extended confirmed) restrictions placed by the Arbitration Committee. The standardised restriction is now listed in the Arbitration Committee's procedures.
• Following the closure of the Iranian politics case, standard discretionary sanctions are authorized for all edits about, and all pages related to, post-1978 Iranian politics, broadly construed.
• The Arbitration Committee encourages uninvolved administrators to use the discretionary sanctions procedure in topic areas where it is authorised to facilitate consensus in RfCs. This includes, but is not limited to, enforcing sectioned comments, word/diff limits and moratoriums on a particular topic from being brought in an RfC for up to a year.

Miscellaneous

• Editors have approved expanding the trial of Growth Features from 2% of new accounts to 25%, and the share of newcomers getting mentorship from 2% to 5%. Experienced editors are invited to add themselves to the mentor list.
• The community consultation phase of the 2021 CheckUser and Oversight appointments process is open for editors to provide comments and ask questions to candidates.

I think there was clearly an issue with people thinking that trying to remove the wording was in some way suggesting that racism is backed by science, which is the opposite of the point being made. HI you said consensus was agreed not to include the Haining Open on the 2021/2022 snooker season. where is the consensus i saw people who wanted it included also so there was no clear answer. you know an event does not have to be sanctioned by the WPBSA to be professional. the Paul Hunter Classic of 2019 was promoted and ran independently by SnookerStars.de and that was included in that season's page. The WPBSA have to allow their players to be released to play in these events. By the way these event wins are included on the players roll of honour for their official WPBSA and WST profiles. Throughout the course of history non sanctioned professional events have always been added to the snooker season page. I think the consensus is pretty plain WT:SNOOKER#2019 Haining Open et al. and WT:SNOOKER#Events for snooker season articles are pretty clearly not in favour of having these items placed in the season articles. You basically mean you can't be arsed to go back over 50 years of pages and go through each one and change it if you have to I get it. Easier just To start from now and pretend it didn't happen before OK. What about if the Paul Hunter Classic comes back as is promoted by snookerstars again will that be included ?. Please do not attack me, I take this seriously. I think you should really read some more of our policies. Arguements such as other things existing, so this should too are really poor, and aren't how wikipedia works. I will warn you now that you should not break our three revert rule. (to add my own thoughts) Personally I find the idea that "these pages are being ruined" to be complete nonsense. I have always hated this multi-coloured multi-category calendar with the least important events highlighted with the most dazzling colours. It should have been changed 10 years ago, but that's no reason to leave it alone now. Better late than never. Let's have a main calendar with the events that most people are really interested in. Other events like Haining, seniors, etc. can be noted much further down the article. NB Best to discuss these things on the article talk page, not on user talk pages, which can look like badgering. These minor events would always have been marked in non-ranking colours anyway so i do not see how that would have been an issue. OK so for instance Nigej can i create a seperate section at the end of the main calendar or at the bottom ie for Haining, and any other minor events shall we say like they do in Golf on the PGA Tour season pages ?. They have a table called "Unofficial Events" these events are still professional events but the prize money does not count towards the PGA Tour's Fedex Cup. Minor events but still included. Would something like that work with a different headline of course but along those lines ?. I am not badgering by any means i just want to help. Some pages, like 2013 World Snooker Championship, appear to use {{World Snooker Championship Rounds}}: others, like 2014 World Snooker Championship seem to use {{32TeamBracket-WSC2-v2}}. These templates seem to just be a variant of invoking the Lua module Module:RoundN, but with the dates above each match to indicate when they were played. I think we should look at trying to standardise draw templates wherever possible on the WSC articles (perhaps 32TeamBracket-WSC2-v2?), though obviously I appreciate that the tournament is unique and separate from others. That being said, having inconsistent template usage doesn't really help with trying to remove templates which are probably only for a small number of pages and could theoretically just be deleted once they're replaced by a standard format. Hi CitroenLover. You are correct, we should indeed be trying to move from {{World Snooker Championship Rounds}} to {{32TeamBracket-WSC2-v2}}. This is because of the final table being not great with WP:ACCESS in the former, and has been brought up many times at WP:FAC. Feel free to make the changes on any WSC article where we have a 32-person tournament; or suggest a better way to work this. The biggest issue is that it takes quite a bit of time to change the formatting to make it work. It's not a ridiculous process, but it's not as simple as changing the template name and calling it a day.
