Hello Adamtt9,
Yes, I've done something (not sure what) wrong there! I was trying to move my new article "Water Polo in New South Wales" to the main space, but seem not to have succeeded? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Water Polo in New South Wales moved to draftspace

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Water Polo in New South Wales. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit for review" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 03:08, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Dear SunDawn,
For this first draft of 'Water polo in New South Wales', I have much improved upon the information of the Wikipedia page Cricket in New South Wales by comparison, which is extraordinarily limited and totally without references. In terms of notability, Water Polo was the first team sport to be accepted into the Olympic program and the only team game played at every Olympics since 1900. The game has been played in Australia since 1879, the first nation after Great Britain to adopt the sport, and it is played by men, women and juniors across every state in Australia. If you could elaborate on what additional sources might be required to establish notability, would be greatly appreciated. TamaRock (talk) 04:22, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello TamaRock! Hopefully you have a great day today. The issue with the article is that the article lacked notability for a standalone article. While you correctly pointed out that Cricket in New South Wales are also short and have similar content with your article, arguing that "other article" gets "different treatment" is not the way to argue in Wikipedia. From my perspective, I do believe that Water polo in Australia is indeed very notable, but the water polo on NSW itself is not notable enough for a stand-alone article. The content of your article can be placed as a paragraph on the Australia article without a problem. For example, we didn't have any article on Football in North Carolina despite we have many related articles such as North Carolina Tar Heels football, North Carolina–NC State football rivalry, or the Carolina Panthers.
If you have any questions, please do ask me I will try to do my utmost to assist you. If you disagreed with my reasoning that is fine as well, you can submit the draft and other editors can take a look at it. Have a good day! ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 05:22, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Dear SunDawn,
Thank you for the clarification, which is much appreciated. What I perhaps neglected to write was that NSW has been the powerhouse of water polo in Australia with far more National Championships and National Representatives than any other state. In my opinion... copying the information into the 'Water Polo in Australia' article would make that article overly cumbersome and perhaps in that context, would be unfair to single out NSW over the other states. I should also mention that it was NSW that singlehandedly carried the sport in Australia from its inception in 1880 until 1948, at which time Australia contested its first National Championship and selected its first Olympic team, without which the sport in Australia would not be in the position it is. I will rewrite the article, and include these and other relevant facts and contributions, but hope that notability also recognises date of commencement, continuity over 135 years and an outstanding record of producing elite players at the international level, as opposed to coverage in the media.
As I've only recently come back to Wiki, one question is... how can I see my article in draftspace, as when I search for it, its gone?
Thanking You

Forget the last request... I found it :) TamaRock (talk) 05:56, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
If you can show that NSW have a clearly notable water polo history that is unique and "not Australian" - which it may be according to your description - I think if you can place it on the article it would be great. Hopefully you can have sources as sources from that period might be difficult. Good luck and have a good day! ✠ SunDawn ✠ (contact) 10:02, 9 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
