Bay Area wiki enthusiasts have been gathering since at least 2007. There is a solid community of contributors around here; maybe related to the proximity of Silicon Valley and all the tech-focused creativity that brings; the rich non-profit presence in the area; and the presence, since 2008, of the Wikimedia Foundation's global headquarters.
The Bay Area WikiSalon series initially took place on the last Wednesday evening of every other month at the Wikimedia Foundation's Chip Deubner Lounge in downtown San Francisco (from 2016 to 2019), and has since been revived in other forms.
