Wikipedia:Future article (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs)

This page seems rather unhelpful. There are currently a few article-namespace redirects that target this page. In theory then, all possible WP:CRYSTAL article titles should target this page, and that seems rather misleading to readers and could also cause the creation of several unhelpful redirects. • Strong delete, WP:CRYSTAL is what it is for a reason. If we have information on a subject, either the article on it should be created or redirected it to a place that contains that information. If we don't have information on a subject, there shouldn't be a redirect at all to show our readers that. This also goes against WP:CNR (aka WP:R#D6) since we'd be creating confusing CNR's to project space for no obvious benefit. (Wow! Imagine our reader's disappointment and confusion when they click on a bluelink and end up in project space on something completely unrelated to the subject.) I feel like the only reason someone would want to create a redirect to WP:Future article is to "camp" on an article title until an article can be created, ensuring that editor would get the article creation credit, and that's not something we should promote either. -- Tavix (talk) 18:57, 15 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Proposal should be to archive, not to delete. The redirects can be deleted at RfD. Not sure that it is actually unhelpful, but not sure that it is a good thing either. --SmokeyJoe (talk) 00:26, 16 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • I think it'd be wise to archive it if this sort of thing has been common practice, but I don't see the value in doing so since I don't see evidence of this being a widespread practice. -- Tavix (talk) 05:52, 16 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete The sole purpose of this page appears to be to redirect titles in the article namespace to the page. However, such redirects should typically be deleted as inappropriate, and the main function this page may have therefore seems to be to trick new users into creating inappropriate redirects. By deleting the page, this can hopefully be avoided. --Stefan2 (talk) 13:58, 16 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete confuses readers since it doesn't point to their desired content. I'm also not sure if this helps in the creation of articles. --Lenticel (talk) 06:20, 18 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]
