There have been a growing number of Wikipedians questioning the need for a separate infobox for guitarists. The {{Guitarist infobox}} was created by Wikipedia:WikiProject Guitarists, and it easily survived a deletion nomination back in September of last year, but that was before {{Infobox musical artist}} (which is supported by Wikipedia:WikiProject Musicians) became a widely accepted standard. Both infoboxes are currently endorsed by Wikipedia:WikiProject Biography, but recent discussions between some members of the Guitarist and Musician Wikiprojects have concluded that it may be time to deprecate the guitarist infobox, and start replacing it. (Unfortunately, this is not a task for bots, and will have to be done manually.)
Before making any final decision on the matter, we would like to get feedback from the broader community, so I am posting this notice to several Wikiprojects which may be affected. Comments should be posted to Template talk:Guitarist infobox. If you have strong feelings about this infobox, one way or the other, please feel free to let us know. Thanks, Xtifr tälk 12:15, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
This article has been created, and comments from specialists would be appreciated. In particular I'd like to know if there are other meanings for the term beside the Austrian folk instrument. -- Rob C (Alarob) 01:35, 4 June 2007 (UTC)
I think that the list of products on the Fender should have it's own page. Does anyone agree with me? If you do let me know here or on my talk page. Izzy007 23:05, 13 June 2007 (UTC) (User talk:Izzy007)
Each section in this article is way to long. It also needs references and a good rewrite. A list of current and discontinued products would also be nice. Izzy007 22:53, 10 July 2007 (UTC) (User talk:Izzy007)

I think it might be a good idea to start a task force for Marshall Amplification. Any ideas? Izzy007 00:51, 11 July 2007 (UTC) (User Talk:Izzy007)
Hey, got a bit of a problem, tried to get some articles about Dean guitars NPOV, but the major contributors didn't really agree, and reintroduced their very bias comments. Feels as I can not revert them any more, need an outside editor to help (and to explain to them an article should look like, as I'm not sure how to). Also, all of the articles have non free images. It concerns the following articles:
and to a lesser degree Dean Soltero. Grinder0-0 17:38, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
Okay Okay we're dealing with it, just give me a bit of time to find all the sources and put them in the articles KingPie01 20:34, 18 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks a lot for helping out, the articles look much better, have better sources now. Only thing I noticed was the Dean ML article, it still contains some non NPOV (like "This is the most well known Dean Guitar due to the radical look and V shaped Headstock and V shaped tailpiece"). That was the only thing i spotted now, so you did a good job I'd say! it seems great ;) I'm going away soon again, so I won't be able to look into these articles thouroughly in about a week or two. I have nominated the Drumtar article for deletion. The drumtar is a sort of guitar-banjo hybrid incorporating a snare drum. One of the participants in the discussion has suggested that the discussion would benefit from more input from people who are knowledgeable about music. So I mention it here in the interest of getting more input from the project members. Please visit the discussion to weigh in. Thank you. Nick Graves 00:02, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
Hello, I made a proposal about {{Infobox Guitarist}} on its talk page Template_talk:Infobox Guitarist and wanted to let you know about it here too in case not everyone is watching that template. Regards, --Kudret abi 03:55, 12 August 2007 (UTC)
I'm not familiar with the set up here, but is it considered standard practice to list every guitar a guitarist uses. It's seems a little trivial to me. But i wasn't sure of the general consensus here. DurinsBane87 06:35, 13 August 2007 (UTC)
As of now, the last transclusion of this depreciated template has been eliminated and replaced with the universal template {{Infobox musical artist}} so I nominated it for deletion. Please provide your comments on:
Wikipedia:Templates_for_deletion/Log/2007_August_19#Template:Infobox_Guitarist.
Thank you. --Kudret abi 22:13, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
Does anyone think it would be a good idea to start articles about all the different styles of Fender amps (Tweed, blackface, silverface, etc)? Izzy007 22:32, 20 August 2007 (UTC) (My Talk Page)
I have proposed a Wikiproject for articles relating to Fender. If you are interested, please add you name here. Izzy007 Talk 21:20, 3 September 2007 (UTC)

Hello I'm having some problems with people who are not familiar with experimental instrumentalism, experimental music and electric guitars. I've a big COI in this case, so I'm not in the position to clear this up. I want a neutral article about Yuri Landman and Moonlander, but they consider it's not interesting enough to mention.
At Y.Landman 6 verifiable sources are ignored and on Moonlander 2 verifiable sources are ignored. I do not know why.
Also it's important to read the article experimental musical instrument first, to understand my articles are pretty common. Also pay attention to www.oddmusic.com, which is 1 source and is together with EMI a leading authority about experimental instrumentalism.
There is a big list of similar articles on wikipedia:

Would anyone be interested in a collaboration to get Steve Lukather up to FA status? I have started working on the article, but could use some help fleshing out sections with sourced material. If anyone has any Guitar Player back issues or anything with articles on Luke, I'd be glad for the help. --Bloodzombie 02:01, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
