Wyatt Hawn Russell (born July 10, 1986)[1] is an American actor and former ice hockey player. He portrayed Corporal Lewis Ford in Julius Avery's 2018 horror film Overlord, Dud in AMC's Lodge 49 and John Walker / U.S. Agent in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021).
Russell was born on July 10, 1986, in Los Angeles, California, to actors Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn.[1][2][3] He is a grandson of the late character actor Bing Russell, and half-brother of Boston Russell, Oliver Hudson and Kate Hudson.[4]
Russell played ice hockey for numerous amateur and pro hockey teams as a goaltender including the Richmond Sockeyes, Langley Hornets, Coquitlam Express, Chicago Steel, Brampton Capitals, and Groningen Grizzlies.[5] He also played college ice hockey for the Chargers at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. His professional hockey career was cut short in 2010 due to injuries.[6]
Russell appeared in films, such as Soldier, Cowboys & Aliens, This Is 40, Love and Honor, We Are What We Are, and Goon: Last of the Enforcers. In December 2013, it was announced that he was cast as Duane Allman in Randall Miller's Midnight Rider, a biopic of Gregg Allman.[7] He also appeared in the 2014 film 22 Jump Street.[8] In 2016, he co-starred in a film that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival called Folk Hero & Funny Guy. In 2016, he starred in "Playtest", an episode of the anthology series Black Mirror.[9]
In 2018, he and Jovan Adepo played the leads in the World War II-set horror film Overlord.[10] In 2021, he starred as John Walker in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.[11] He will reprise the role in the 2025 film Thunderbolts*.
In 2022, Russell took on the role of real-life murderer Dan Lafferty in the FX miniseries Under the Banner of Heaven. In July 2022, he joined his father in Apple TV+ and Legendary Television's Godzilla series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters which is set in the world of Legendary's MonsterVerse franchise.[12]
Russell starred in the 2024 supernatural film Night Swim.
Wyatt Russell co-founded Lake Hour, a premium sparkling cocktail brand, with film producer Richard Peete in 2023. Together they are co-founders and co-CEOS. The idea for Lake Hour was conceived during a family vacation, reflecting Russell's love for the lake, which became a central theme of the brand's identity. The duo set out to create a more authentic, high-quality ready-to-drink (RTD) cocktail, aiming to stand out in a crowded market dominated by corporate brands.
Lake Hour offers low-sugar, real-ingredient-based cocktails, made with premium vodka and tequila, and flavored with combinations such as Watermelon Cucumber (tequila), Peach Jasmine (vodka), Honeysuckle Ginger (vodka), and Rosemary Yuzu (vodka). Each can contains only 109 calories and is sold in key markets like New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Oklahoma.
The branding of Lake Hour draws inspiration from the relaxed atmosphere of lakeside memories, something Russell and Peete connected deeply with. Wyatt, also the face of the brand, plays an integral role in its promotion, leveraging his acting career to give Lake Hour visibility, especially with his upcoming role in Marvel’s Thunderbolts.
Lake Hour has quickly gained attention for its innovative flavors and authentic branding, and continues to expand its distribution and market presence
In 2012, Russell married stylist Sanne Hamers, whom he met in the Netherlands whilst playing hockey.[13][14] The couple separated in 2015 and divorced in 2017.[15][16] Russell began a relationship with actress Meredith Hagner in 2015 after meeting her on the set of the film Folk Hero & Funny Guy.[17] They married in 2019.[18] Their first child, a son, was born in 2021.[19] Their second son was born in February 2024.[20]
Russell was a goaltender for the 2022 NHL All-Star Game's breakaway challenge.[21]
