User talk:Al Ameer son/Archive 1
Hi, please stop entering unsourced anti-Israeli rhetoric into articles, like you did to Shagor. Thanks, Ynhockey (Talk) 04:42, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
Please be advised that Wikipedia has a policy about naming articles, sections and the like, and you can read about it at WP:NC and its sub-pages. For instance, headings are to be written with only the first word capitalized. You should also take the time to read WP:5P. -- Ynhockey (Talk) 04:45, 6 April 2007 (UTC)

Hello abn al Amir, Thanks for contacting me. For the Hamas article, I think there were two points:
For the Beit Lahia article there were also two main points:
Note that in both cases I preserved parts of your edit (Arab nationalism, Yasser) I hope that I was able to ease your concerns, but if you have any more questions, feel free to ask again. I almost forgot - I wanted to compliment you on your hard work creating articles on all of the villages. Cheers, TewfikTalk 00:47, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
Hello again,
I noticed your message on Ynhockey's Talk and I wanted to clarify why he [and I] have been removing that passage. The main issue is that any information added to an article, especially when potentially controversial, must be attributable to a reliable source. Otherwise there is no guarantee that our entries are factual, since anyone could add anything, even if they believe it to be true. Even if I witnessed something with my own eyes, there is no reason for you to take my word for it, and we call that original research. The best solution is to find the account published in a reputable source, and then there will be no problem adding it.
As for renaming, I suggest you read the naming conventions, as it is easy to make a mess by improperly moving things :-) In this specific case, you should find out if Bakri prefers a specific spelling, and if not, check to see if there is a standard spelling used by professional organisations like the IMDB. If not, you can try a Google test, or check the Arabic Manual of Style. I'll try to look into this if I get a few minutes. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have. Cheers, TewfikTalk 04:29, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
To add to what Tewfik said, you also keep adding obviously pro-Palestinian sources (sometimes to ridiculous points, like palestineremembered.com and robincmiller.com, which definitely do not qualify under WP:RS), and hope to support wild stories about massacres based on these sites and books written by proven anti-Israel authors with no well-known research). You must understand that in order to include information in Wikipedia, it must not only be sourced, but the sources must be neutral and/or reputable. Pro-Palestinian and pro-Israeli sources are accepted as long as they're reliable (to pro-Palestinian examples are The Guardian and Benny Morris).
I wish to reach a compromise with you, but please discuss major changes which you think may be contentious before making them, and find more reliable sources.
Thanks, Ynhockey (Talk) 19:41, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
ابو علي (Abu Ali) 21:27, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
Hello, No bother at all, I'm glad to help out :-) Before we move it, lets make sure we know what the best name for it is. Since the CBS says Rame, that holds a lot of weight. However, we came across a similar case before where the town rejected the government's spelling, so perhaps you can show that the town rejects that and instead embraces Rama? Also, if you want to discuss anything non-Wikipedia with me, click on the 'email' button on the sidebar. Let me know, TewfikTalk 21:28, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
It wasn't me that requested it, I just cleaned up the OpenTasks page. You did a great job on it! At some point, we'll need to create a template that brings together all the former depopulated arab villages. --Abnn 21:00, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
Dear All, As a Palestinian from Zakaraiyya where my ancestors lived for the last 728 years (documented existence) i would like to say that the village is Zakariyya
just thatزكريا in Arabic..and i want also to say that our people were expatriated from our village by Israeli force ..the village is now called Kfar Zekharya ...whre the biggest israeli rocket base is located.. the new inhabitants who occupy our homes come from Kurdistan >>>
you can visit us on our group http:[\\groups.msn.com\zakariyya] best regards...Issa Adawi ..fronm Zakariyya..
I kept searching and searching, and haven't been able to find the 'one Jewish kibbutz' you keep referring to in the Bustan al-Marj Regional Council article. All four are Arab villages. Where did you get your information from? -- Ynhockey (Talk) 20:51, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for your new Israel-related articles. Please add your additions to Wikipedia:WikiProject Israel/New articles so that others might know of them. --Shuki 23:06, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
I hoped to contact you over the records of Palestinian towns and villages - could you please enable your Wikipedia e-mail? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 81.102.146.86 (talk) 10:37, 13 May 2007 (UTC).
Hello,
I also thought it odd for one so far from the other three, but that seems to be the ICBS's official designation (spreadsheet file). I was a bit confused by the villages that you had added in - what made you think that they were the right ones? Also, I believe that the MOS says to put all the languages etc. in one set of parenthesis. Cheers, TewfikTalk 01:49, 20 May 2007 (UTC)
Sorry for the slow reply. I've addressed the issue you brought up about Governorates_of_the_Palestinian_National_Authority, at least I think so. I'm holding off on the template for the depopulated Arab villages for the time being, but eventually it would be a good idea. --Abnn 23:09, 23 May 2007 (UTC)
Thank you for expanding the range of articles on the former Arab localities of 1948. I wanted to ask you if it's possible to bring other sources other than basing every article on one single website whose legitimacy could be easily questioned. It would be best to try and bring info from non-partisan sites as well. --Shuki 18:51, 24 May 2007 (UTC)

There are many acts out there which may count as militant attacks, such as assaulting soldiers on foreign soil or military bases, but suicide bombings against civilian buses? There is no way you can classify that as anything but Terrorism, and that is exactly what is refered in Operation Defensive Shield. Read the background. Those who mind don't matter, and those who matter don't mind. 21:02, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
I believe the current article is mis-named. The depopulated village near Jerusalem was Imwas, not Samu, which is, as you wrote, near Hebron. Isarig 06:14, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Please use the four tildes ~ to sign your comments, or design a signature that adds the date to your signature because the date is important. Thanks --Shuki 18:36, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Please don't write Hebrew/Arabic transliterations in bold. This serves no purpose, clutters the text, and (especially in the case of Arabic) makes it much harder to read. The fact that the transliteration is in brackets next to the English word (which might be in bold if it's the subject of the article) makes it obvious that the Hebrew/Arabic text corresponds to it, even without the boldface. Thanks, Ynhockey (Talk) 20:35, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
I've added the Hebrew to all those articles you mentioned on Tewfik's talk page. Good work creating them! Number 57 16:20, 6 June 2007 (UTC)
I can't say I really understand the point, and this seems like overcategorisation to me. I don't think there is any precedent for such categorisation - imagine Jerusalem in categories relating to mandatory Palestine, Ottoman control, Mameluke control, etc. all the way back to the dawn of time :-) OTOH, depopulation is significant enough for a list, and even for a category. It might be better if you created an article in your UserSpace along the lines of Al-Walaja and invited us to add to it, rather than creating a stub that will quickly be targetted for deletion. I can see that you are a genuine and highly productive editor [3] so I'm not trying to put you off. But the encyclopedia has sometimes suffered a blizzard of credible-sounding new articles related to this area, which have turned out to be fantasies. PalestineRemembered 21:22, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Kabul, Israel.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 15:08, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Hello,
I'm working on it, and I'll soon have a working prototype ;-) TewfikTalk 21:57, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Ill_Arafat.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 03:50, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for uploading Image:Haniya.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

Hi, there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. On many keyboards, the tilde is entered by holding the Shift key, and pressing the key with the tilde pictured. You may also click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. As far as I can tell, the two Abasans are just that - separate municipalities. What is sorely missing is an explanation of the system of local government, as while the source that I linked to on the muni template suggests that places like the Abasans are "B" level municipalities (towns?), it does not say so outright. I'm sorry, but while I respect your request, I'm not going to stick my foot into the flag issues of any of the Arab/Israel conflicts. While I understand your request, Palestine, while a dispossessed nation (and even that will no doubt have people arguing with me, but it is my belief), is not a sovereign state, and neither is using the Fatah flag, and as such, it would be incorrect for me to add the Fatah flag to the page in question, per Wikipedia flag rules. If anything, the logo should also be removed, but since the page is currently locked, and a sensitive subject, I'm not going to remove it (I would tend to remove all of them; though a graphic designer, there's a time for images, and I don't think 7 pixel high images actually add anything), and instead suggest you take this to the protecting admin, Xaosflux. --Thespian 14:12, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

It's an interesting suggestion, but I think it's better to retain the English spelling for the town which is Sebastia. It's only transliterated Sebastiya by those unfamiliar with its proper English name. It think it's important for us to use the most common, proper name in English, rather than the Arabic transliteration used only by those who are unaware of its English form. I believe that is in step with Wiki guidelines on the matter too. Thanks for the suggestion though. Tiamut 12:29, 2 December 2007 (UTC)
