Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Siraj Daily Header.png

[edit]

Thank you for uploading File:Siraj Daily Header.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 6 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on P. K. Parakkadvau requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. ‡ Єl Cid of áșalencia ᐐT₳LKᐏ 14:20, 24 September 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion declined: Mohammed Eeza

[edit]

Hello Kutyava, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Mohammed Eeza, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: claims significance; A11 cannot be applied to people; text is not promotional. If you are interested in learning more about how speedy deletion works, I have compiled a list of helpful pages at User:SoWhy/SDA. You can of course also contact me if you have questions. Thank you. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited SQR Ilyas, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page President (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Ways to improve Samastha (AP faction)

[edit]

Hello, Kutyava,

Thank you for creating Samastha (AP faction).

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

It is unclear what the three factions are, what that means for the school. It is also unclear who the school serves, what ages and gender.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Velella}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Advice

[edit]

I'm one of the most experienced editors and administrators here working on university articles. I've reviewed the article on Darul Huda Islamic University. As you know, some of the articles here on universities are very much too expansive about details of concern only to current students; on the other hand, readers deserve sufficient verifiable information to know what the school is. Some of the material added by the other editor was indeed not appropriate, but some of it was . I added back what was customary, just the same way I do with all university articles I work on. I still need to check the references. DGG ( talk ) 05:53, 18 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2019 election voter message

[edit]
Hello! Voting in the 2019 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 on Monday, 2 December 2019. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2019 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:24, 19 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!

[edit]

Hello,

Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.

I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!

From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.

If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.

Thank you!

Notice

The article Grand Muftiship of Sheikh Abubakr Ahmad has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This article has been already exist by another name Kanthapuram A. P. Aboobacker Musliyar

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Your history on Wikipedia

[edit]

I am curious about your user page and the claim that you have been an editor on Wikipedia since September 2018. Your contribution record shows the earliest edit as August 2019. One of the purposes of a user page is to provide some useful background data for other users. One of the key criteria is that such information should be true. It may also be humorous or even flippant but is should never seek to dissemble. If an editor lies on his or her own user page, that bodes ill for any articles that they may edit. Perhaps you could comment on why this is wrong and whether other user boxes are also fictional, invented or just plain wrong. Thanks  Velella  Velella Talk   05:01, 13 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

May I be allowed to make a suggestion? What you have reported is certainly not edit warring - yet. There must be a civil discussion of the article talk page about the content and try and find a satisfactory way forward, I doubt whether any admin is going to find in your favour when it is clearly, at present, a content dispute. Even without a discussion on the talk page it is customary to have warned the other editor about their conduct. Now I might well agree with your concerns but there must be due process and you may risk your own reputation by reporting others on so little evidence. Perhaps a chance to reflect ?  Velella  Velella Talk   09:13, 13 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with Velella. Aside from clear-cut cases of vandalism or other blatant policy violations (which this is not), it is generally more productive to start a discussion on the article's talk page than to send a warning template to the other editor. — Newslinger talk 13:25, 14 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Ma'bar moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Ma'bar, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.  I dream of horses  If you reply here, please ping me by adding {{U|I dream of horses}} to your message  (talk to me) (My edits) @ 07:00, 18 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Parameters missing!

[edit]

Hi, I have joined wikipedia few days ago. There are some important parameters missing from the bio infobox of the wikipedia article named as Shamsheer Vayalil. These parameters are nationality, title and degrees(MBBS and MD in alma mater column). I could have done this myself if the parameters were missing in the article paragraph but these are missing in bio infobox and I don't have enough knowledge in formatting bio infobox. Please! add these information. Thanks. 786 harsh life (talk) 09:27, 28 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Karnataka State Sunni Students' Federation requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". Cite tool

[edit]

Hi. While fixing an unrelated bug, I saw an issue with cites at Kanthapuram A. P. Aboobacker Musliyar that I wanted to mention since you were the contributor here. When using the cite tool to fill out a cite for The Times of India (at least), it mis-parses articles like Grant full membership to India: Kanthapuram to OIC as:

{{Cite web
|url = https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/kozhikode/grant-full-membership-to-india-kanthapuram-to-oic/articleshow/68227741.cms
|title = Grant full membership to India: Kanthapuram to OIC {{!}} Kozhikode News - Times of India
|last = Mar 2
|first = TNN <nowiki>{{!}}</nowiki> Updated:
|last2 = 2019
|website = The Times of India
|language = en
|access-date = 2019-08-07
|last3 = Ist
|first3 = 8:44
}}

(spaces added for clarity). This has the following problems that need to be corrected manually:

  1. |last=Mar 2 and |last2=2019 should be removed and |date=2 March 2019 added.
  2. |first=TNN | Updated: should be removed and |agency=TNN added (at least I think it's saying that this is a regurgitation of a TNN staff/newswire piece and that's what this parm is for).
  3. In |title=, remove the trailing " - Times of India"
  4. Link |website=The Times of India if you like: |website=[[The Times of India]]
  5. Remove |last3=Ist and |first3=8:44

In a non-newswire article, it behaves slightly differently:

{{cite web
|last1 = Feb 5
|first1 = Jaikrishnan Nair | TNN |
|title = Sexual abuse allegations: Three priests stripped of spiritual role {{!}} Kozhikode News - Times of India
|url = https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/kozhikode/sexual-abuse-allegations-three-priests-stripped-of-spiritual-role/articleshow/73965104.cms
|website = The Times of India
|language = en
}}
  1. |last1=Feb 5 contains the abbreviated month and day instead of |last=. The year is missing altogether (and must be obtained from the article manually).
  2. |first1=Jaikrishnan Nair | TNN | Contains the first and last name of the author and | TNN |. I'm not sure if this means it is still a wire piece, but with a named author.

I've been seeing/fixing these for a while – I guess I'll figure out where to report it so maybe the tool can be fixed. Meanwhile, be aware that these cites need to be manually corrected. I know it has problems reading other (in fact, most) sites, too, e.g., it rarely gets the date. Cheers. —[AlanM1(talk)]— 11:46, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed that you have warned User:Padavalamkuttanpilla for not adding promotional materials in any article. I think he didn't take the warning seriously. Regards on your recent activities

[edit]

Dear wikipedia user, I have noticed that you have your own interests in wikipedia, and you contribute well to the related articles. Congratulations. Sharing your knowledge in a particular field to the world is the very core thing every wikipedian should have. But the very basic principle is that nobody in the world is perfect. If you present something before a community (whether online or offline), you may be challenged, you may be questioned, somebody may request fact check, and somebody with the authority may take the action if you are wrong. You have to accept all those because you have the responsibility of the knowledge you share to others. I've noticed that you opened a sock puppet investgation on me and another unrelated user without valid evidence, just because you didn't like the edits these two random users made to your favorite topics. You couldn't revert those edits, you couldn't challenge those edits, because they were almost genuine, so you called for a sockpuppet investgation. This behaviour so disruptive and a good wikipedian shouldn't do this. So I'll watch all your future contributions to find any misbehaviour like this, and you'll be corrected or reported. Thank you. Muneeb vs Rafi issue

[edit]

It is sad to see that you revert good edits and tag them as vandalism. It was proven from neutral sources like dawn and Pakistan’s Institute of Policy Studies that Mufti Muneeb Saheb Hafidhahullah is not the Grand Mufti anyway. You have recently vandalized the article again. If the Urdu resources you provided by Mufti Azam title are agreed upon including the Jhang one, then Mufti Rafi Usmani is also a Grand Mufti of Pakistan. See for example this report on Jang.com.pk . Here in this report, none of the two are referred to as Grand Muftis. The point being that since it's not an official title by the government, it's not used uniformly by neutral sources. If some sources mention it, they mention it with others as well as a mark of respect (and not to endorse it officially). Hope you understand and stop yourself from doing all this vandalism. - Aaqib Anjum Aafī (talk) 11:01, 29 March 2020 (UTC) A BBC report also states that Mufti Rafi Usmani has the position of Grand Mufti. report may be seen. - Aaqib Anjum Aafī (talk) 11:32, 29 March 2020 (UTC) In this issue], Mufti Taqi Usmani has been referred as Mufti-e-Azam - Aaqib Anjum Aafī (talk) 11:33, 29 March 2020 (UTC) This Sama TV report] refers Mufti Rafi as Mufti Azam while the other Sama Tv report does not mention Muneeb Saheb as Grand Mufti - Aaqib Anjum Aafī (talk) 11:39, 29 March 2020 (UTC) This report of Jang also says Mufti Rafi as Mufti-e-Azam. All I wanted to say, that this is not a official position. It is a honorary title more used by followers and few people use it as a mark of respect. So, please avoid vandalizing the Grand Mufti and Muneeb-ur-Rehman pages. Love - Aaqib Anjum Aafī (talk) 11:44, 29 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

In many articles, Muneeb and Rafi have been used as the Mufti of Pakistan by the national news agencies. Rafi is not a government official, but Muneeb is the highest Islamic religious authority in Pakistan appointed by then Prime Minister Imran Khan. ❁ᎀ᎜᎛ʜᎏʀ❁ (❁ᮅᮏᮍ❁) 02:13, 30 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]
sad to see that again from you. None of the two are officially State Muftis. Mufti e Azam is only honorary as proven from neutral sources. Agreed that Mufti Muneeb is in Ruet e Hilal Committee, and thus holds no other office than that. You may add Mufti e Azam has a honorary title not as a office as no such office exists in Pakistan. Moreover, mark of respect does not make one the top authority. PM Khan has recently used more high titles for Mufti Taqi when he was attacked. That doesn't make him officially the highest authority. A tag has been placed on Category:Samastha (EK Faction) indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and removing the speedy deletion tag. Liz Read! Talk! 08:08, 22 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
